Dr. Yousef Al-Assaf

Dr. Al-Assaf holds a Ph.D in control engineering from Oxford University-United kingdom and currently is a professor at the School of Engineering at the American University of Sharjah.

Dr. Al-Assaf’s research and industrial experiences are in the areas industrial instrumentation and control (PLC, SCADA, DCS). During his work at Oxford University Dr. Al-Assaf has developed a computerized predictive controller for the cement mills for the Blue-Circle Cement factories. He designed and developed various automatic control systems for various industries including fertilizer plants, textile and sheet-cutting establishments. He developed artificial intelligence software packages for intelligent stock optimization and planning.

Dr. Al-Assaf has given various in-house and general workshops in PLC and computer industrial process control for practicing engineers in Jordan, Saudi Arabia and UAE. He troublehooted various control systems including pneumatic and hydraulics systems. Dr. Al-Assaf participated in the establishment of the industrial engineering department at the University of Jordan and the Electrical and Computer Engineering programs at AUS.
