Mr. David Corless

David Corless began his career in the electrical contracting industry where he gained hands on experience of a wide range of electrical installations in industrial and commercial environments, Local Authority and Government buildings, and similar premises.

In 1996 David joined the University of Bath to take up the new post of Chief Engineer, where he had direct responsibility for the operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical and telecommunications services within the Universities academic and residential buildings. He was responsible for setting the technical standards for both maintenance and new build, and acted as Senior Authorised Person on the HV network.

David is now the Assistant Director of Property Services at the University, where he has full managerial responsibility for around 80 staff maintaining approximately 150,000 m2 of building floor space on a 200-acre campus. He is responsible for setting all of the maintenance standards, which include the electrical engineering services. David is also responsible for the planning of infrastructure services to meet the capital development programme, and for drafting the standard specifications for all new building works.

David Corless holds a Bachelor of Engineering Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering, from Leeds Polytechnic, and a Diploma in Management Studies from the University of Central Lancashire. He is a Chartered Electrical Engineer, and is currently the South West Chairman of the Association of University Engineers. He is a regular presenter of electrical courses covering electrical design, maintenance and safety and has presented courses both in the UK and abroad since 1992.
