INTRODUCTION

This Course covers the complete gamut of topics required to analyze energy use and to identify and quantify energy efficiency opportunities in industrial plants.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES 

Following completion of the course, each individual should be capable of critically analyzing the general usage in the plant, accounting for the energy consumed by the equipment and processes and identifying opportunities to reduce plant energy consumption and achieve energy cost savings thereby contributing to improved plant efficiency and profitability.

Ahmed  Zobaa received the B.Sc.(hons.), M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Power & Machines from the Faculty of Engineering at Cairo University, Giza, Egypt, in 1992, 1997 and 2002.  Currently, he is a Senior Lecturer in Renewable Energy at University of Exeter in Cornwall, UK. Also, He has been an Associate Professor in Electrical Power & Machines at Cairo University, Egypt. He was an Instructor in the Department of Electrical Power & Machines, with the Faculty of Engineering at Cairo University, Giza, Egypt, from 1992 to 1997, Teaching Assistant from 1997 to 2002, and Assistant Professor from 2003 to April 2008.  His main areas of expertise are power quality, photovoltaic energy,  wind energy, marine renewable energy, grid integration, and energy management.

Dr. Zobaa is an Editor-In-Chief for International Journal of Renewable Energy Technology. Also, He is serving as Editorial Board member, Editor, Associate Editor , and Editorial Advisory Board member for many international journals.

Dr. Zobaa is a registered Chartered Engineer. Also, he is a registered member of Engineering Council UK, and Egyptian Society of Engineers.

Dr. Zobaa is a Fellow of Institution of Engineering and Technology. Also, he is a Senior Member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Association of Energy Engineers (AEE), Alternative & Renewable Energy Development Institute, and Facility Manager Institute of AEE. Also, he is a Member of International Solar Energy Society, European Society for Engineering Education, European Power Electronics & Drives Association, UK Solar Energy Society, and IEEE Standards Association.  

Dr. Zobaa oversees electrical projects, starting from reviewing their feasibility studies, through their complete implementation. His responsibilities include review of technical specifications, bid selection, review of contract award, and job progress.

Dr. Zobaa is developing and teaching power system courses on Wiring Regulations, Power Systems Analysis, Power Systems Coordination, Power System Grounding, Harmonic Analysis, Power Quality, Co-generation and Electrical Energy Management.
