INTRODUCTION

As national economies are dependent on oil and gas plants, there will be increasing pressure to expand and modify the existing levels of production. Modification of plant sections/ units tends to change the existing level of hazard and risk, which often times are not estimated.

This one-day course aims to provide an understanding of the right balance of safety and risk without becoming obstacles to modification and expansion of units in industrial plants. Techniques at identification and assessment of process risk, matching risk levels to safety system performance requirements and estimating overall system performance will be explained. Safety aspects during design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance/ testing, emergency shutdown systems, etc., in the process industry will be discussed.

The main outcomes of this course are to enable the trainees to have clear understanding and more awareness on importance of occupational  health and safety at work in order to create a healthier and safer working environment

The course covers several topics; they are wide range of topics.  There will be sufficient case studies and tutees involvements and if possible there will be one or more site visits.  A short assessment will be conducted on the fourth day and certificates will be issued to each trainee. All training materials and hand-out will be provided by the trainers, in one folder.
